The Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Award recognises alumni who demonstrate distinguished and significant excellence in their career, industry or community.
Susan Kinobe is a distinguished professional whose career and community contributions epitomize excellence and leadership. With a Bachelor of Commerce from James Cook University, Susan began her career at Ernst & Young as a Trainee Accountant. She progressed to key roles, including Senior Financial Reporting Officer at Queen’s University in Canada, where she was the first Australian to hold such a position, and later, Deputy Director of Finance at James Cook University.
Currently, Susan serves as the General Manager for the North Region at TAFE Queensland, a historic appointment as the first Townsville-based individual in this role. Her leadership has driven significant improvements, including a $10 million revenue growth, a 9% increase in student enrolments, and securing over $100 million in funding for infrastructure projects. Susan’s innovative strategies and commitment have positioned TAFE Queensland as a key player in regional education and training.
