OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – This weekend, people are honoring those who served our country.
Nebraska’s official Veteran’s Day parade in Bellevue featured veterans, active-duty military members, and students in JROTC.
Even though it was overcast, people enjoyed the parade.
With Offutt Air Force Base in town, it’s fitting that the parade is held here.
According to the US Census, almost one out of every eight people in Bellevue is a veteran.
Among them, Janice Ikeda’s father, Wallace.
“I came out here today because my dad’s a veteran for the Air Force, so coming out to support my nieces,” Janice said. “They’re in the Bellevue West Junior ROTC, so coming out to support the community and Offutt. Very proud of him. Very proud to represent the Air Force and be an Air Force brat. I’ve gotten to see a lot of things and just very proud of him for what he does.”
Earlier this morning there was also “Dignitary Breakfast” that was invitation-only.
