USS Abraham Lincoln returns to San Diego, families reunited [Video]

CORONADO, Calif. — Hundreds of U.S. Navy families reunited with their loved ones on Friday, as USS Abraham Lincoln returned to its homeport in San Diego just in time for the holidays. 

According to a press release from a Naval spokesperson, the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier was deployed in the Indo-Pacific region for five months to support regional security and stability, keep sea lanes open and reassure commitment towards the region to the Navy’s allies and partners.

After deploying from San Diego on July 11, sailors and marines on USS Abraham Lincoln traveled more than 55,000 nautical miles, conducting thousands of sorties, as well as dual-carrier operations with ITS Cavour and USS Theodore Roosevelt. 

It also made routine port visits to Guam, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and Thailand.
