US Senator Amy Klobuchar visits University of Minnesota Rochester to promote College in 3 programs | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn.- U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar held a joint press conference with the University of Minnesota Rochester to promote College-in-3 programs on Friday Oct. 18, at Two Discovery Square.

Sen. Klobuchar said with rising need for healthcare workers across the country and many students unsure if they can handle the cost of a full four year degree, programs like UMR’s NXT Gen Med and a recently started program at the University of Minnesota Morris are exactly what employers and young professionals need right now. 

According to Chancellor Lori Carrell the NXT Gen Med pilot program is almost complete and its first class of 20 students has done remarkably well in the classroom and through their internships at Mayo Clinic.

After they graduate, Carell says UMR plans to analyse the program and try to build upon it for future students, possibly even expanding it to cover digital and mental health care …
