Three people are now in custody in connection to the shooting, according to Lewiston police.
LEWISTON, Maine — Lewiston Police say the U.S. Marshals Service was utilized in response to a shooting on Knox Street Monday afternoon as part of a push to strengthen public safety.
“We have a lot of federal partners that we’re working with right now, and when an incident like this happens, it’s certainly helpful when we bring all of our law enforcement partners together,” Lieutenant Derrick St. Laurent said.
Several suspects fled the scene, three of which were chased towards Blake Street by law enforcement and are now in custody, according to St. Laurent.
“Shootings like what happened [Monday,] time is of the essence. We want to get there on scene as fast as we can to preserve the evidence,” St. Laurent added.
