Former prime minister and US ambassador Kevin Rudd’s deleted tweets have been brought up during question time in parliament.

Nationals MP Michael McCormack said Rudd’s disparaging remarks about Trump, where he described the president-elect as “the most destructive president in history”, was a “quite the predicament”.

“Mr Rudd has only just removed – just removed – negative comments that he posted about president-elect Donald Trump on his social media,” he said.

“Why has it taken Mr Rudd until today to delete posts about Mr Trump? Oops.”

McCormack noted it has taken Rudd two years since becoming US envoy to delete his messages from 2020.

He claimed Rudd has “hung onto those beliefs” and only switched gears now Trump has won.

“Oops, a big, big oops,” McCormack said.

The MP went on to describe members of the current government in Australia as “anti-Trump”.
