UPDATE: EYOTA, Minn.– Several animal are unhoused after a barn fire Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release shared by the Rochester Fire Department, just before 2 p.m. crews noticed a very large plume of black smoke from several miles away. Upon arrival, RFD crews encountered a fully involved shed fire at 7220 30th St. SE.
Engine 1 immediately deployed fire attack hose lines to attempt to knock down
the large body of fire and to protect the exposures. Battalion Chief 2 arrived on scene quickly thereafter and established incident command which included fire attack teams along with a water shuttle operation with the help of the Eyota Fire Department. The fire burned through most of the building before it was under control. Crews remained on scene cleaning up hot spots for an extended period of time.
The barn was considered a total loss, it housed several animals.
No injuries have been reported.
