Update: Expect marble-sized hail with thunderstorms in Mobile County Monday [Video]

An updated report was issued from the National Weather Service on Monday at 1:59 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 2:45 a.m. for Mobile County.

The storms are packing wind gusts of up to 50 mph and marble-sized hail (0.5 inches).

“At 1:59 a.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 5 miles north of Wilmer, or 12 miles east of Lucedale, moving southeast at 35 mph,” states the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Midtown Mobile, Semmes, Tanner Williams, Mobile Regional Airport and Wilmer.

The weather service states, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
