Albemarle County Parks and Recreation Department will accept Christmas trees for recycling from 7 a.m. until dark daily through Jan. 19 at McIntire Recycling Center, Claudius Crozet Park, Greenwood Community Center, Chris Greene Lake Park, Darden Towe Park, Scottsville Community Center, Walnut Creek Park and Simpson Park. Remove all decorations, lights, stands and nails. Only trees are accepted; do not bring wreaths or yard waste. Trees will be chipped into free mulch, which will be available starting Jan. 20. albemarle.org.
Brewing Tree Beer Company in Afton is presenting its Best Lights of Christmas event through Tuesday. Visitors can stroll through lighted displays, drink hot chocolate and relax in a warming tent.
