Unlike any storms we have seen this year: Lincoln begins massive clean-up [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – With nearly 500 downed trees reported across Lincoln, a major cleanup effort is underway.

The City of Lincoln hosted a press conference Thursday morning to provide updates on recovery efforts.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird was joined by Director of Transportation and Utilities Liz Elliott, Lincoln Police Chief Michon Morrow, Lincoln Fire Chief David Engler, Lincoln Electric System CEO Emeka Anyanwu and Director of Parks and Recreation Maggie Stuckey-Ross.

TREE DAMAGE

Stuckey-Ross said this was “unlike any storms we have seen this year so far.” The Parks and Recreation team received 401 reports of downed trees, with 83 additional reports coming in just during the first hour of the workday on Thursday.
