OKOBOJI (KTIV) – The University of Okoboji Winter Games are now less than two months away, and you can take part by cheering on the competitors. It’s legacy 45 years in the making.
Inspired by the 1984 Olympic Games, the University of Okoboji Winter Games has helped cure cabin fever for decades. But…what’s a sporting event without cheerleaders?
“They’re kind of in charge of the party,” says Matt Richter, of the University of Okoboji. “They go around to all the different events, and they event may be going along, but when that bus shows up with the cheerleaders it’s just a shot of adrenaline in the arm.”
The Winter Games Cheerleader role promises a fun-filled weekend, while also serving as an opportunity for the Iowa Great Lakes community to recognize and celebrate individuals who are making an impact.
