University of Arkansas journalism students receive pre-election training [Video]

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Students at the University of Arkansas School of Journalism and Strategic Media are learning how to earn and keep the public’s trust, while also combatting misinformation during an election season.

Multiple training sessions were held today at Kimpel Hall as part of a partnership between the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and Google News Initiative. Dan Shelley, CEO and president of RTDNA, was in attendance at the training, as well as Daniel Petty, director of audience strategy at ProPublica.

Events were open to all students and faculty, as well as to the public.

Charlie Brandom is a junior at the University of Arkansas and is studying journalism with a focus on news. However, he’s also an editor at the school’s student-run newspaper, The Arkansas Traveler.
