UnitedHealthcare CEO fatally shot in brazen, targeted attack outside hotel, police say [Video]

NEW YORK (Gray News) – The CEO of UnitedHealthcare was fatally shot outside a hotel in Midtown Manhattan in a “brazen, targeted attack,” according to the New York City police commissioner.

Brian Thompson, 50, was shot by a masked man outside the New York Hilton Hotel at about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, the New York City Police Department reported during a press conference.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul called the attack a “horrific and targeted shooting.”

The suspected gunman fired several rounds, striking Thompson at least once in the back and once in the leg, according to police.

NYPD reported the suspect fled the scene on foot before getting on an e-bike. He was last spotted in Central Park.
