KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – There are hundreds of organizations across the metro going above and beyond to help others. On Thursday, the United Way of Greater Kansas City is making sure their work doesn’t go unnoticed.
The nonprofit will host the Waymaker Awards at the Midland Theater at 4:45 p.m. The awards recognize companies and individuals for their efforts in the community.
This is the first year the United Way will hold this award show after formerly being known as the Spirit of Caring. Awards range from fundraising to community engagement.
The United Way is well known in Kansas City, most recently leading the KCStrong efforts after the tragic shooting at Union Station.
United Way spokesperson Kera Mashek said the nonprofit is able to serve the Kansas City community thanks to the help of others, and the celebration recognizes their unselfish efforts.
