The annual Ullr Festival returned to York County and welcomed thousands of people from across Pennsylvania and some neighboring states.
YORK COUNTY, Pa. — It starts with a chant and ends in a blaze.
Ullr Fest returned to Warrington Township, York County on Saturday for the eighth time. The event has been a staple of Roundtop Mountain Resort for almost a decade.
“It’s a tough pronunciation, I know, but it’s Ullr,” said General Manager Ted McDowell.
The event draws in thousands of visitors.
“[Ullr’s] a Norse god who was known for the ability to make snow and he loved to cross-country ski and go hunting,” explained McDowell. “So this is a fairly popular themed party around this time of year in ski communities.”
For some, Ullr is the unofficial start of winter.
It’s so popular that some travel from out of state.
It was a day filled with barbeque, costumes, and, of course, beer.
