The United Kingdom on Sunday (Dec 15) officially became the 12th member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which Singapore is also part of. The UK’s accession to the group “should be celebrated”, British High Commissioner to Singapore Nik Mehta told CNA’s Asia First. He added that the UK’s membership will bring the country’s businesses new opportunities and hopefully, boost trade investment with the region.
