The U of M is highly favorited to defend their crown as the Pom champions, as they hope to reclaim Jazz top spot.
MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota Dance Team and several other Minnesota collegiate programs are traveling to Orlando, Florida, this weekend for the 2025 Universal Dance Association (UDA) College Nationals, widely regarded as the “Super Bowl” of collegiate dance.
The defending pom champion Gophers return to nationals after their viral jazz dance to “Dream On” last year captured global attention and even earned recognition from Aerosmith.
Under the leadership of head coach Amanda Gaines, the team enters this competition with 22 national championships to their name.
“Last season was… wild is the only way to describe it,” Gaines said. “But we’re focusing on dancing for the right reasons. The love of dance and the love of each other, versus ‘let’s see how viral we can go this year.'”
