Tyler Together Race Relations releases theme for annual MLK march [Video]

TYLER, Texas — Tyler Together Race Relations announced the theme Friday for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. march, taking place Jan. 20. 

‘MISSION POSSIBLE: Protect freedom, justice, & democracy’ has been named the theme in the spirit of nonviolent unity, justice and collective action to foster a more fair society. 

The march will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Tyler Public Library, and will conclude at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on South Broadway. 

The event will include live performances from Tyler ISD bands and the Texas College Choir along with an art contest and speech from Keynote Speaker Dr. Mary Breaux Wright. 

“Dr. King’s dream of equality and justice remains as relevant today as ever. We invite everyone to join us in honoring his legacy and continuing the work he began,” Tyler Together Race Relations representative Nickalous McGrew said. 

Families, schools and other communities are encouraged to join in the free walk.
