Two shootings in Palatka Monday [Video]

Police say social media posts claimed that one of the two victims have died, but wanted to clarify that both of them are alive.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Palatka Police Department issued a press release Monday to clarify the events of shootings that injured two people. PPD says rumors spread on social media that one of the two victims had died, but both are alive.

PPD and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting scene at the intersection of Moseley Avenue and Redi Street at 12:41 p.m. Monday.

Officers found a 21-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head, according to PPD. He was taken to HCA Palatka Hospital, where he was airlifted to a local trauma center. 

While they were at the scene, PPD was notified that another shooting victim had arrived at the hospital. The victim, a 22-year-old man, had a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
