Two injured in Suffolk fire Friday night [Video]

Five dogs also were able to escape the residence.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Two people were injured in a fire in Suffolk late Friday night.

The fire in the 1600 block of Whaleyville Boulevard was reported at 10:13 p.m., according to a press release from Suffolk Fire & Rescue.

The first units were on scene at 10:21 p.m. The fire was out on arrival, but crews found moderate smoke throughout the residence.

Two occupants and five dogs had exited the home safely prior to firefighters’ arrival. However, both people were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and were in stable condition.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.
