Twisters is blowing onto premium video-on-demand tomorrow, about one month after the big-budget sequel opened in theaters.
Directed by Minari‘s Lee Issaac Chung, Twisters is a stand-alone sequel to the popular 1996 disaster flick, Twister. Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as a woman-in-STEM who gave up her dream of storm-chasing after a traumatic tornado disaster. Thanks to an old pal, played by Anthony Ramos, she’s convinced to come out of tornado retirement. But then she meets an arrogant social media influencer and tornado chaser played by Glen Powell. Sparks (and possibly cows) fly.
Twisters was a big-budget box office hit. So far, the movie has earned over $310 million at the worldwide box office, more than earning back its estimated $200 million production budget. So is it surprising that Universal is releasing Twisters on digital platforms after less than one full month in theaters?
