Twiggs County Schools under ‘Code Red’ lockdown, delays dismissal [Video]

TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — A “credible threat” to the Twiggs County School District sent all three campuses into a 1.5-hour lockdown Wednesday and delayed school dismissal, the school district said in a press release.

Assistant Superintendent James Austin says that someone from within the school district communicated to the district administration that “they felt that someone was actively coming to do harm to staff and students,” sparking a “Code Red” lockdown at around 2 p.m. 

While Austin couldn’t confirm whether the person was a student or staff member, he says the district and law enforcement investigated the claims thoroughly.
