Tucson content creators, businesses discuss impact of TikTok ban [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – According to documents from the U.S. Supreme Court, 170 million people around the country use the social media platform TikTok.

Many of them rely on the app as part of their livelihood.

While the clock is ticking for TikTok, Tucson-based influencers, content creators, and business owners tell me the ban could be a big blow to their businesses and income. The company on Friday said it will be “forced to go dark” in the U.S. on Sunday if the federal government does not intervene.

The app is expected to be banned after the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from TikTok’s owners on Friday.

What TikTok users can do to prepare for the ban

Tucson native Aiesha Beasley has close to 170,000 followers on the app. While she has a big following on her other social accounts, such as Instagram and YouTube, she said her career took off after joining TikTok.
