The US president-elect Donald Trump is the reason for a flurry of major Wall Street takeover deals, a UK business leader has said, writes David Connett.
Martin Sorrell, boss of S4 Capital and founder of the advertising group WPP, told the BBC: “In the second Trump era, we’re seeing a huge increase in what I call ‘animal spirits’ in America.
“I’ve never seen it quite so strong.
“The deregulation feeling that Trump is generating means that deals and the North American market are big and strong.”
Sorrell was speaking after it was revealed that ad groups Omnicom and IPG were in talks about a merger that would create the world’s largest advertising agency.
