Former President Donald Trump and his team were briefed on what his office described as “specific threats from Iran to assassinate him,” according to a press release.
According to the release from Trump, the briefing on Wednesday came from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which said the threats are an “effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”
“Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference,” Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director, said in the release.
Cheung went on to place some of the blame for the attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, saying that the “terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris.”
