There is potential for an area of low pressure to form in the western Caribbean over the next several days. This is something we will watch for next week.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As we start rebuilding as a community from Hurricane Helene, we are watching the western Caribbean Sea for potential tropical development in the coming days.
An area of low pressure is expected to form with the National Hurricane Center giving this disturbance a medium 50% chance of formation over the next week.
There is a chance that this disturbance could organize further into a tropical depression as it enters an environment conducive for gradual development.
If it does form, it will likely move northwestward into the Gulf of Mexico during the later half of next week.
