Girl Scouts Aubrey and Charleigh Tanner raised $1,004 to gift Manchester HS staff and teachers free boxes of Girl Scout cookies on Tuesday.
The Girl Scouts have arrived and are trying to establish a troop in Nelson County that would be the only troop in the county.
Elisabeth Copp, community engagement manager for Girl Scouts of Virginia, held an interest event at Nelson Memorial Library on Oct. 22 with prospective Troop 1287 leader Esther Ford.
According to the Girl Scouts website, “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.”
“I cover the northern part of the county. We’ve always struggled to have any Girl Scouts and I’ve worked for the Council for nine years,” Copp said, noting she’s been in the position since 2020.
