Tri-State officers struck by dirt bike leading to pursuit, police say [Video]

TRENTON, Ohio (WXIX) – Two Middletown men were charged for their alleged involvement in a hit-and-run with two Trenton police officers, followed by a pursuit.

Matthew David Short Jr., 23, and Noah Alexander Terrell Fleming, 19, were charged with traffic offenses, Trenton Chief of Police Patrick Carr said in a press release.

The incident happened Tuesday at approximately 8:15 p.m.

According to Chief Carr, officers near State Street and Poplin Place heard off-road vehicles and dirt bikes in a wooded area west of the Great Miami River along the railroad tracks.

Chief Carr said the officers walked to the area and found a large group of dirt bikes and quads, with one dirt bike being driven adjacent to them.

When the officers asked the rider to stop, he allegedly drove directly toward them, striking both and knocking them to the ground before fleeing.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Middletown police were dispatched to assist.
