When authorities arrived on the scene, they say the mobile home was engulfed in flames, leaving the victims little chance of survival.
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. — A mother and her child were killed in a “tragic” overnight fire in Twiggs County, according to a press release from the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office.
They say it happened Monday morning in Jeffersonville at around 1 a.m.
The press release says a mobile home caught on fire on Dale Street.
When the sheriff’s office and fire department arrived on the scene at around 1:06 a.m., they said the home was engulfed in flames.
Fire department officials began to fight the fire when they realized the mother and her child were trapped inside.
Twiggs County Fire Cheif Shaun Hart said that, based on the state of the fire, the deck was stacked against the two victims.
