Tons of trash picked up at Chico’s annual Bidwell Park and Creeks Cleanup | News [Video]

CHICO, Calif. – Saturday was trash pick-up day in Chico, with volunteers gathering for an annual event sponsored by the Butte Environmental Council (BEC).

Patrizia Hironimus, the executive director of BEC explained that trash was being picked up in Bidwell Park and at several Chico creeks. 

“It’s a team effort,” said Hironimus. “We all have to work together.”

“It’s just not one organization,” she explained. “It’s everybody lifting up the community and saying, ‘Yes, I will show up and I will put my body where my mouth is and I’m going to be there for the environment.'” 

According to Action News Now reporter Alejandro Mejia Mehia more than 400 volunteers showed up at the popular event called the Butte Environmental Council Bidwell Park and Chico Creeks Cleanup.
