WARREN (WWJ) — A 2-year-old boy remains hospitalized after find a gun and shooting himself over the weekend.
In a press release, Warren Police said their officers and fire units were called to a home on Edgemont, near Stephens and Hoover, at around 6 p.m. Saturday for a toddler who had shot himself. When they arrived, officers and fire crews found the 2-and-a-half-year-old boy had a gunshot wound to his stomach area. Warren Fire crews rushed the child to the hospital while police blocked intersections along the way.
At last check; the child was in stable condition and “responsive and alert”, police said.
According to police; a 42-year-old woman was babysitting the child at her home on Edgemont where the shooting occurred.
Authorities said the woman is a licensed CPL holder who had two handguns.
