NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The state’s emergency management agency said Friday afternoon that while crews work to clear roads of snow, hazardous travel conditions could linger for a few days after snow passes.
During a press conference, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said snow is expected to continue falling in East Tennessee overnight into Saturday. Winter Weather Warnings are expected to continue through 6 a.m. Saturday in most of the state.
When the sun comes out and daylight shines, TEMA said temperatures could rise above freezing. By the time night falls though, they are expected to fall again below freezing — causing snow to thaw and then refreeze into ice, which could make travel hazardous. Cold air could also make snow last stick around.
