TikTok future could be on hold for Hawaii social media influencers and beyond | News [Video]

HONOLULU (Island News) — Time could be up for TikTok within a few short days.

The Supreme Court could uphold the law to ban it if the China-based parent company doesn’t sell it.

With arguments heard Friday by the Supreme Court, Attorney Noel Francisco said, “I’m proud to represent TikTok incorporated and ByteDance Limited in this important First Amendment Case. We thought that the argument went very well—the justices are extremely engaged, they fully understand the importance of this case, not only for the American citizens of this country, but for First Amendment law. We thought they vigorously questioned both sides.”

The Supreme Court appears likely to uphold a law that could ban the popular social media app TikTok unless it’s sold by its China based parent company. The app’s departure would also affect influencers in Hawaii who have made careers from the platform.
