Thunderstorms with marble-sized hail in Mobile County Thursday [Video]

A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Thursday at 4:52 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 5:30 p.m. for Mobile County.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and marble-sized hail (0.5 inches) are expected.

“At 4:51 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 7 miles northwest of Lucedale, moving east at 25 mph,” says the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”

The alert is for Lucedale and Leakesville.

The weather service states, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
