Thunderbirds host Hometown Heroes night to support the California wildfires [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – On Saturday night, the Springfield Thunderbirds went head to head against the Providence Bruins in front of a sold out MassMutual Center crowd for their annual Hometown Heroes night.

The special night saw the T-Birds partnered up with the Springfield Fire Department with the goal of supporting fire departments in fighting the devastating wildfires in Southern California.

We caught up with Thunderbirds executive Steve Brousseau, who shared more about the big game.

“It’s our annual night to recognize first responders in the community and put the spotlight on them. We had the vehicle parade during the first period, first intermission, rather, and it’s a chance for us to thank those in the community on the front lines and it’s became one of the most popular nights of the year,” he explained.
