Three new ambulances will now provide services for 911 calls in Grand Chute [Video]

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WBAY) – The Grand Chute Fire Department unveiled their brand-new ambulance service during a special event on Wednesday.

After years of using Gold Cross Ambulance, the regional ambulance service, 911 calls will now be handled internally by town paramedics and emergency medical technicians.

Fire officials say they hope the move will improve 911 response times while also providing premium care to the community.

As part of the new service, the department purchased three ambulances and added six new positions and equipment at a cost of $667,000.

The department says that will be paid for through the services they provide at a reduced fee. The cost of transportation services for those living in Grand Chute will start at $1,300 while non-residents will be billed about $1,700.
