WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Three people, including a juvenile, were arrested with a modified gun during a traffic stop.
Wilmington police stopped a car on Saturday after 6 p.m. for a window tint violation on Montgomery Avenue.
According to a press release, 18-year-old Demarius Simpson tried to run with a pistol in his waistband when he was asked to step outside the car and he was quickly taken into custody. His gun was determined to contain a modified conversion device.
The driver and front passenger were also detained and officers found another gun as well as marijuana.
Simpson has been charged with possession of a weapon of Mass Destruction, carrying concealed weapon-gun, PWIMSD marijuana, resist/delay/obstruct, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was given a $50,000 secured bond.
