TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Area United Way’s Days of Caring brought together over 5,000 volunteers from 101 organizations to complete over 200 community service projects.
On Friday, thousands of volunteers arrived to participate in TAUW’s Day of Caring event.
This year is the 33rd annual Day of Caring.
The two main projects took place at Monroe Demonstration Academy and McLain High School.
At Monroe Demonstration Academy, 300 QuikTrip volunteers and 140 City Year volunteers donated their time and skills to help refresh different aspects of the school’s sports facilities and improve the overall look of the campus.
Specifically, the volunteers worked on the following projects:
- Installed a new quarter-mile track and multi-purpose sports fields
- Painted inspirational murals in the hallways
- Renovated the City Year team room
- Landscaped and cleaned up the courtyards
- Revitalized the basketball court
- Added motivational quotes to the school walls
QuickTrip volunteers also worked at McLain High School, focusing on renovating the baseball fields, improving the greenhouse and updating other elements of the school to provide a more inspiring learning environment.
