ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – An artist is heartbroken after he says thousands of dollars of ivory was stolen from his vehicle in downtown Anchorage.
Yup’ik carver Vince Gregory, also known as Carving Fox, parked his vehicle behind where he works at Alaska Art Alliance on Fourth Avenue. Inside, a ring case containing at least twenty pieces of jewelry.
When he returned, the ring case had vanished.
“After putting my heart and soul into all of my rings, it’s like someone’s took my heart and soul from me and now I’ve got left is this physical body,” He says. “ I felt sick, like I wanted to puke.”
For Gregory, it’s a devastating loss that he says has affected his emotional and physical well-being. He says it feels like he’s been “ripped in half”.
