Thomas Hospital program for sexual assault survivors gets county support [Video]

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office has pledged funding to Thomas Hospital’s program for sexual assault survivors.

The office allocated $40,000 in funding per year to go to Infirmary Health’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program at Thomas Hospital, according to a news release.

Program officials explained that SANE is important for the community.

“The SANE Program plays a crucial role in our community by providing specialized care for survivors of sexual assault,” the release said. “SANE nurses are trained to conduct thorough examinations, collect evidence, and offer compassionate support to victims.”

The release said the program aids survivors through the healing process and enhances law enforcement’s ability to investigate these crimes effectively.
