CITY OF SHASTA LAKE, Calif. – The owner of Boomtown BMX in the City of Shasta Lake is calling for community support after thieves broke into the non-profit track twice this week, stealing thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
Track operator Jonny Shaw said the first break-in happened on Monday when the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office alerted him that locks had been cut on a storage container. Four loaner bikes, a leaf blower, and a weed eater were stolen – items kids use to practice at the track.
On Christmas Eve, thieves struck again, attempting to steal an air compressor. However, thanks to a vigilant neighbor, Shaw found the compressor abandoned on a nearby walking trail on Christmas morning.
