The volunteers that turned a Malaysian rubbish dump into a river park [Video]

Five years ago, this 330m-long area in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was an abandoned rubbish dump between Mid Valley Mall and the Klang River.

Today, thanks to the efforts of the Alliance of River Three group, it is a budding river park designed to foster natural biodiversity and community engagement.

Despite ongoing challenges, these dedicated volunteers have removed trash and planted flowers and bamboo. They are working to build a green space where birds, bees and other species can thrive.

Though the Mid Valley River Three Park is not open to the public just yet, it stands as a testament to what is possible when people come together to reclaim and restore natural spaces in Kuala Lumpur.
