GENESEE COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – The final night of the Democratic National Convention brought a familiar face to the screen.
Under a national spotlight, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 bid for the White House.
Sheriff Swanson got a prime-time slot on the final night of the DNC, ahead of some well-known names, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, as Democrats led up to Vice President Kamala Harris’ address. Swanson touched on the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in Flint when protesters and law enforcement walked arm-in-arm.
“We laid down our riot gear, and we embraced the community. Instead of hate, we chose hope,” said Swanson. “We need a leader who will embody what is affixed to all three sides of my sheriff’s patrol cars. Protect, Serve and Unify. Kamala Harris is that leader.”
