Texas A&M, Climavision dedicate new weather radar [Video]

Local weather forecasting received a big boost last summer when a new weather radar system was installed on top of the Eller Oceanography and Meteorology Building at Texas A&M University.

Friday morning the partners involved celebrated the occasion with a dedication ceremony at the Memorial Student Center.

“Here in our community what it does is it protects us. It allows us to give advanced warning. It allows us to tell people that there’s trouble coming, or there’s danger approaching or there are things you should be cautious about for in the next six, 12, 24 hours,” said Mark. A. Welsh III, president of Texas A&M.

The event recognized the partnership between Texas A&M and Climavision, the Louisville, Kentucky-based climate-tech company that created and installed the radar.
