Former President Donald Trump celebrated early turnout in hurricane-ravaged North Carolina, noting several times that “they tend to be Trump areas.”
Trump and his allies have been spreading misleading information and outright lies about the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other Biden administration responses to the devastating Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, even as GOP officials have refuted the attacks.
At a press event in Asheville, North Carolina Monday afternoon, Trump continued to press those attacks as he gathered with local Republicans and businessmen who support him.
During the event, Trump repeatedly praised those who came out to vote early in far greater numbers than in 2020 — more than a million votes in the first four days of early voting.
