Temple, Texas NAACP to host Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration Jan. 20 [Video]

This year’s celebration will take place at Greater Zion Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 808 E. Central Ave. in Temple, and will feature a parade, performances and presentations, a musical tribute and more, according to the organization.

At 10:15 a.m., the event will begin with a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Tree Dedication at the MLK Jr. Festival Grounds, located at 301 S. 4th St. in Temple, followed by a parade to the church featuring vehicles and walkers beginning at 10:30 a.m., weather permitting. Participants can begin lining up at 10 a.m.

A program is scheduled for 11 a.m., featuring youth oratorical presentations, performances, recognition of art contest winners and more, according to the NAACP. Light refreshments will reportedly be provided as well.
