Tellico Plains High School senior, cross country star dies in car crash [Video]

LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tellico Plains community is mourning the loss of a high school student and star athlete.

Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones confirmed to WVLT News Darrah Wiseman, a track standout at Tellico Plains High School, died in a car crash on Saturday on I-75 in Loudon County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was unable to confirm if it was the deadly crash at mile marker 80 on I-75 that WVLT News reported on Saturday. Additional information will be released when the THP releases its preliminary report.

Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram said in a statement Wiseman was a senior that made the entire county proud.
