Tegna Foundation gives out checks to nonprofits in West Texas [Video]

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas — A handful of nonprofit organizations in the Permian Basin received their holiday presents early this year. The Tegna Foundation donated a total of $10,000 to organizations that are making a different in West Texas communities. 

These organizations include the Highland Council for the Deaf, Crane Sandhills Rodeo, Big Bend Bluegrass Association and the Crisis Center of West Texas. Each organization took home $2,000. 

“This money will be used for deaf community members with interpreting services, advocacy, educating community asl classes, doctor’s offices and training police as well,” said Dorothy Floyd, a member of the Highland Council for the Deaf. 

One organization is ready to launch a brand-new program.
