Teen charged with first-degree murder in connection with fatal shooting of retired CPD officer [Video]

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy accused in the murder of a retired Chicago police officer has been charged.

During a press conference on Monday evening, Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling announced that the teen, who has not yet been identified, has been charged with first-degree murder and will be tried as an adult.

The charge stems from a shooting that left 73-year-old Larry Neuman dead. Neuman was a retired CPD officer and veteran,

After working with CPD for 28 years, Neuman retired in 2010 and later spent time with TSA as an explosives expert.

The teen is just one of two people who are believed to have been responsible for the deadly shooting and the search continues for the second individual.

Authorities say Neuman was outside of his home paying a lawncare worker on Thursday when he spotted two individuals who were allegedly approaching with guns drawn.
