After one day on the picket line, Teamsters warehouse workers said they reached a deal with Sysco/SYGMA late Monday.The company supplies food and other items to chain restaurants.Negotiations started in August but ultimately led to a strike Monday.“I feel like this could’ve been prevented. Like, we gave them two weeks past the contract. We thought we had an agreement. They thought we had an agreement, some of the management team, and it just didn’t work that way, but I’m glad it came to a fast resolution,” said Neil Thirstrup, part of the Teamsters negotiating team.A large part of the new deal focused on getting workers double pay for any time worked after a 12-hour shift.“The company wasn’t wanting to meet some demands from employees.
